Alfred Lor Shoots His Own

A photo blog - non commercial - just the stuff I Love.

The images below link to photo-series of current or recently completed projects.

I shoot mostly editorial and commercial photography for a living but shooting stories like the ones below are what I most enjoy.

All images in the respective series below would like to hang on walls - I am looking for a sponsor/partner/philanthropist to help in getting these images up on walls, in galleries and then (hopefully) in homes. Part profits to go toward those depicted or their charities.

My professional website as well as picture library can be found at

The Pink by Night Series - Click on the image to view the whole series.

This series was shot at the ‘Knysna Pink Loerie Festival’ backstage at a Drag Queen Competition.
The Pink Loerie Festival is an annual week long Gay/Lesbian Festival in the small coastal town of Knysna, in South Africa. It is a fairly contentious event, and not loved by all residents even though it brings valuable (pink) feet to the mainly tourist driven area.

The images in this series were shot in the dressing/changing area for the Drag Queen Contest.

I had actually planned to shoot the event - but caught a glimpse of the backstage area and asked if I take a few photos inside. I ended up shooing all my available memory in the changing area. The images were shot using the (minimal) available light - really magical thing soupy light… almost womb like and just right (I hope) for these images of transformation, bravery and inhibition.

Anyone who would like to know more about the series can contact me at alfred@alfredlor.com
